It is in the west part of Saudi Arabia and coast of the Red Sea. It is also considered as second largest city in Saudi Arabia after the capital city Riyadh. The population is about over 3.4 million and it is commercial city. It is tourist city, there are many place you should visit if you plan, e.g Jeddah Corniche, Abdul Raouf Khalil’s Museum and Humane Heritage Museum.
It was fishing village over 2,500 years ago. About etymology of Jeddah, they are two explanations of this word. First, it means “seashore” that as we said it is coast of the Red Sea and important commercial port of KSA. Second, it is derived from jaddah, which is Arabic word for “grandmother”.
It is the main gate gateway of the two holy mosques (the holiest cities of Islam), which many of Muslims around the world come to make the pilgrimage every year.
